Benefits of Tanning Bed

Every year there are more and more people using tanning beds to achieve the desired skin tones that they are looking for.  In today's society the darker skin tones seem to be more popular.

There are some steps to take, to successfully and safely obtain the darker skin tones:

1. Do not try and rush a tan.  Staying in too long on the first few sessions will only result in burning of the skin.  Not only is this extremely dangerous, but also red is probably not the desired skin tone.  Generally for the first two weeks, tanning every other day will help your skin adapt to the tanning bed lamps.  Increasing by a few minutes per day on these sessions will help too.  Starting out for 5-7 minutes the first few sessions is a good idea.

2. Using tanning acceleration products is always a good idea, as well.  Ask your tanning professional to help out with that area.  There are many different products out there that are made especially for tanning beds and these are the only products that should be used in a tanning bed.  Also, these products will help keep the skin hydrated, which in turn will keep the skin from drying out and peeling.  It is important to use them every time you tan.

3. Ask questions about the tanning beds you are using.  If the bulbs have recently been changed, the UV rays will be stronger and less time will be needed at first.

4. Tanning every other day will help achieve a nice deep tan.  If a person over does it, their skin will look like leather.

5. Increase your sessions by 1-2 minutes each time, unless you were over exposed the time before, and then in that case, cut back by 1-2 minutes.

6. Applying after sun lotion is an excellent way to keep your tan lasting longer.  It helps keep the skin hydrated and healthy.  There are products out there just for this step. Again, it is important that you are consistent with this step, too.

Tanning beds tend to have a bad reputation of being unhealthy and dangerous.  However, if a person uses common sense and follows these steps, tanning beds are not any more dangerous than the natural UV rays from the sun. If an individual does not follow these steps then they can be dangerous and hazardous to your health.
