Tips For Indoor Tanning Beds
More and more people are utilizing indoor tanning beds today. It is very important in our society to look good, and part of looking good is having some color to your skin. This is especially true if you are a female.
There has been allot of bad publicity for indoor tanning beds in the news in the past decade. Studies are showing that some of these accusations that were made are not necessarily true. As a matter of fact, there are even some case studies that prove that not only are the indoor tanning beds not hazardous to a persons health, they may even be beneficial to some skin disorders, as well.
For Instance, there is a vitamin D deficiency in this country that has some health officials concerned. The combination of UVB rays and skin cells produce vitamin D in the human body. If used and not abused, the indoor tanning bed industry could really capitalize on this issue. If used wisely, an indoor tanning bed could stimulate vitamin D absorption. Also, skin disorders, such as psoriasis, can be effectively treated with indoor tanning if doe the correct way.
Another story that has been around for the past decade is that indoor tanning can actually cause skin cancer. There is some truth to that, however, the skin cancer that has been related to indoor tanning is very easily treated. This same type of skin cancer can be caused from outdoor tanning as well. It is not the Melanoma skin cancer that people assume it is. There is really no evidence that indoor tanning beds cause Melanoma.
The bottom line is that any one thing can be hazardous to a person's health if not used wisely. Indoor tanning can be a safe alternative to tanning outdoors, but a person has got to use common sense.
One of the first tips to indoor tanning is to always wear protective eyewear. This is a must! Also, using indoor tanning lotions can help hydrate the skin and keep it from cracking and drying out. The next important issue is to follow the recommended guidelines on how many minutes a person should be in a tanning bed at first, and the maximum amount of time for anyone. If these simple rules are followed the results can be darker, more beautiful skin, safely. Again, if the tanning bed user does not follow instructions, then there can be damage to the skin, and possibly the eyes.
